The following article gives a summary of decrees by the Council of Ministers and communiqués by the Ministry of Economy regarding prevention of unfair competition in imports, made between 1 December 2018 and 31 December 2018.

Turkey Announces New Tariff Quotas for Certain Imports

A Presidential Decree imposed tariff quotas on the following goods. For imports within the scope of the quotas, the following customs taxes will apply.

The tariff quotas were outlined in Presidential Decree number 512, published in Official Gazette number 30638 on 27 December 2018, entering into force on 1 January 2019 and remaining in force until 15 February 2020.

Safeguard Measures Imposed on Glass and Float Glass Imports from Iran

An investigation by the General Directorate of Import of the Ministry of Trade has resulted in actions against imports of glass and float glass from Iran, defined under tariff codes 70.04, 70.05 and 70.06. The decision imposes additional financial obligations for imports of these items from Iran for three years.

The investigation’s results were announced in the Communiqué on Safeguard Measures in Imports number 2018/8 and the Presidential Decree numbered 452, published in Official Gazette number 30622 on 11 December 2018, entering into effect on the same day.
